Kuala Lumpur ~ Places to VisitKL Visitors Guide
Within downtown Kuala Lumpur or city centre are a number of places
of interest to visit. These include unique shopping in places such
as Chinatown and the Central Market, or to the interesting places of
worship that reflect the religious and cultural diversity of the
city such as the Jamek Mosque, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Chan See
Shu Yuen Temple and the Thean Hou Temple. For world class structures, there is the eye
catching Petronas Twin Towers as well as the KL Tower. Other
interesting sights include Merdeka Square, and the National Palace.
LAKE GARDENS AREA
Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens also known as Perdana Botanical Garden or
Taman Tasik Perdana is located in the west of the city. It provides a pleasant escape for city dwellers whom can be seen
strolling, jogging or even doing some early morning t’ai chi, surrounded by
lush greenery, Butterfly Park, Orchid & Hibiscus Gardens, KL Bird Park,
National Museum, The National Mosque National Mosque, Islamic Arts Museum
and the Parliament House.
OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITYOn the outskirts of KL City, there are a number of interesting places to visit that is within easy reach. These include the world renowned Batu Caves, the reputable pewter crafts of Selangor Pewter, and the Sunway Lagoon amusement and family theme park. For Nature lovers
there is the Templer's Park and the educational FRIM (Forest Research
Institute of Malaysia). For those into buildings, architecture and beautiful
structures a rewarding trip would be to Putrajaya.
For day trips and within reach are a number of interesting places to
visit. Within an hours drive is Genting Highlands, offering a cool
respite from the city combined with all of the excitement, luxury,
and entertainment of an international resort destination. At one
half and two hours drive away are the cool rustic beautiful hillside
surroundings of Fraser Hill, the historical city of Melaka, the
sights of Bukit Melawati and the dazzling display of fireflies in
Kampung Kuantan. Also get a close and personal touch with elephants
at the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary and the cooling atmosphere at
Cameron Highlands.
