Genting Highlands is a good place to get away for the day. With fresh and cool highland air, a very green setting and a chance to have fun with family and friends and located only about an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur
it is popular with day trippers.

At 2,000 meters above sea level, it offers a cool respite from the city combined with all of the excitement, luxury, and entertainment of an international resort destination. Known as the ‘Fun City Above the Cloud’, Genting Highlands is the only legal land-based casino in Malaysia.


There are international dinner shows and discos, World-class casinos, theme parks with dozens of amusement rides and attractions suitable for the entire family, venues for shopping, restaurants and bars offering various types of food and drinks and even a challenging 18-hole, par-71 golf course.

Visitors to Genting are mostly Chinese, as they mainly frequent the casinos. As for foreigners it is popular with the Indians and those from the Middle East coming for the relaxing cool air, theme parks and the entertainment.


Cable Cars
You can take a relaxing, scenic ride up to Genting on Genting Skyways cable cars. The rides provide breathtaking views of the surrounding rainforest hills at a comfortable speed that will get you to the top in the perfect mood.

With 8 passengers per gondola and at the maximum speed of 6 metres per second, the 3.38 kilometres journey up the mountain peak takes only 11 minutes.

Hotels
There are over 10,000 rooms catering to all whims, fancies and even wallets. Lavish in the 5-star facilities or live it up in the accommodation of your choice. To date, Genting Highlands Resort has six hotels (namely Maxims, Genting Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Resort Hotel, Theme Park Hotel and First World Hotel) and two apartment blocks (Ria and Kayangan Apartments) at the hilltop and Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort.
Most opt for Maxims, Genting Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Resort Hotel, Theme Park Hotel and First World Hotel.


Casinos
The only legal casino in all Malaysia, there are two casinos, the main one, Casino de Genting at Genting Hotel and the other, Starworld at First World Hotel. There are Table Games, Slot Machines and Electronic Table games.

It offers all the usual games plus a selection of Chinese favourites. Open 24 hours daily, but you must be at least 21 and not a Muslim.

A dress code also applies, prohibiting shorts, slippers and sandals.

There is a cashless gaming systems for its Electronic Table games and slot machines. This is with the use of the Genting World Card. Its a simple matter of applying for one at the card counter, setting a PIN number, then proceed to use it at the machines, topping up with cash as and when required. The winnings are recorded in the card and cash withdrawals made through its own ATM machines. The card also collects points depending on its use which can be redeemed at food outlets, for hotel rooms, etc.

Theme Parks
The resort has two theme parks and a Water park with dozens of amusement rides and attractions suitable for the entire family. The First World Indoor Theme Park and The Genting Outdoor Themer Park has thrill rides, family rides and children rides.
The Water park is mostly for kids and offers a ride down the Tornado slide or splashing and floating around the heated Pool.

Arena of Stars
There is usually a performance and sometimes bringing in major international artists from Asia as well from the West such as Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Sir Cliff Richard and Air Supply.

This fully-roofed amphitheatre equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting system can accommodate up to 6,000 people at any one time.

Genting News
Ice Age Adventure
Starting Sept 1st at the Genting International Convention Centre, the package offers an adventure featuring three main key zones — the Ice Age Theatre, Ice Age Playground and Ice Age Meet-and Greet.
The adventure kicks off with the Ice Age Theatre offering a short screening of Ice Age: Continental Crack Up No1 & No2, Scrat-Gone Nutty, No Time to Nuts, and Surviving Sid from 10.15am to 9.15pm daily.
Next is the Ice Age Playground that takes visitors practically to Ice Age. Here, Ice Age characters are featured in 2D die-cut displays, 3D street art element, mirror illusion and many more.
One section takes you to the Captain Gutt’s ice-ship, which offers plenty of fun and photo opportunity.
At the end of this ‘playground’ is an array of skilled games and redemption machines where visitors can test their skills, wits and creativity.
The last destination is the meet and-greet session with Sid, Scrat and Diego. Here, visitors can have fun with them with a game or two or simply dance with them.
Every participant stands a chance to take home a gift. Entrance fee for the adventure is RM20 per person.

After the Ice Age Adventure, you may also go on another educational and engaging adventure with your friends and family through the Behind-The-Scenes Tour where you take a sneak peek into Resorts World Genting and its daily operations. Explore the other side of the resort that few have ever seen such as the biggest laundry in Malaysia and how to make sushi.

Tour dates are available every weekend with additional tours from 13 to 21 Sept.
Registration can be done at First World Indoor Theme Park Wristband Tagging Counter or registration counter at Vision City Video Games Park (next to the post office) at only RM20 per person.
