For day trips and within reach are a number of interesting places to
visit.
Within an hours drive is Genting Highlands, offering a cool
respite from the city combined with all of the excitement, luxury,
and entertainment of an international resort destination. At one
half and two hours drive away are the cool rustic beautiful hillside
surroundings of Fraser Hill,
the historical city of Melaka, the
sights of Bukit Melawati and the dazzling display of fireflies in
Kuala Selangor.
Also available is the
opportunity to get a close and personal touch with elephants at the Kuala
Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. And at three and a half drive away is Cameron
Highlands, the country’s premier hill resort with low temperatures all year
round with strawberry farms, terraced tea plantations and orchards. For
those into buildings, architecture and beautiful structures a
rewarding trip would be to Putrajaya.
Genting
Highlands
Genting Highlands is a good place to get away for the
day. With fresh and cool highland air, a very green setting and a
chance to have fun with family and friends and located only about an
hour drive from Kuala Lumpur by road, is popular with day trippers.
At 2,000 meters above sea level, it offers a cool respite from the
city combined with all of the excitement, luxury, and entertainment
of an international resort destination. Known as the ‘Fun City Above
the Cloud’, Genting Highlands is also the only legal land-based
casino in Malaysia.

Fraser's
Hill
Fraser’s Hill is a highland resort is about two hours
away from Kuala Lumpur. Rising 1,500 meters above sea-level, this
cooling holiday retreat is popular for its nature activities and
cooling climate. Fraser's Hill is one of the last hill stations in
the country that still retains its old English colonial charm.
Locally known as Bukit Fraser, it is an idyllic place for one to
rest and to escape from the heat and humidity.

The small city-state of Melaka
(Malacca) which began as a historic port city, is one steeped in an
intoxicating multicultural world of heritage architecture and filled
with mystery, history and legends. With centuries of colonization by
the Portuguese, Dutch and the British, Melaka is probably the best
example of multicultural colonialism in existence.

Kuala
Selangor & Fireflies
Kuala Selangor is notably most
famous for the fireflies which are found on the mangroves alongside
the Selangor River. Also here are remnants of the old Fort
Atlingsburg on top of Malawati Hill that offers a panoramic view of
its beautiful coastline and the antics of the free roaming The
‘Silver-Leaf’ monkeys. There are pretty good seafood restaurants at
Kuala Selangor and seafood doesn't come fresher than the ones sold
there.

Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary
The Kuala Gandah Elephant
Sanctuary is a popular destination for visitors to observe and
participate, a hands-on introduction to one of the largest mammal on
earth. This includes observing and participating in the bathing,
feeding and hands on experience with the elephants. Kuala Gandah
also aims to promote public awareness of the elephant’s plight in
Malaysia and to support research into elephant’s translocation and
conservation programs.

Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highlands is the country’s premier hill
resort. It offers low temperatures all year round, flower gardens,
strawberry farms, terraced tea plantations, aborigine villages, vegetable
farms, colonial cottages and its jungle-clad hills
and waterfalls. Visitors to Cameron Highlands can expect a peaceful
community with a laid back outlook of life.

Termed as Malaysia's first Intelligent Garden City,
Putrajaya is the new Administrative Centre of the Government
of Malaysia. Of special interest to a visitor would be the
architectural concepts of its buildings, designs of its square,
boulevards and bridges, the scenic lake and the wetlands and the
nature parks.
