From her humble beginnings in the suburbs of Subang Jaya to the glamorous floodlights of Hollywood, Yunalis Zarai has proven time and time again that she is a world-class act in her own right. After releasing her debut self-titled US album under the uber-hip Fader label, she got the attention of world-renown composer/producer David Foster and was recently signed under his Verve Music Group. Her latest offfering, the Sixth Street EP (featuring collaboration with Mike Einziger from the critically-acclaimed rock band Incubus) was a strong indication of an artist making her mark into the international music scene.

Outdoor / Show ~ Putrajaya International Fireworks Competition 2013

A total of six countries will showcase their expertise during the six days of competition. The countries are China, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United States, South Korea, France and Malaysia. An exciting 25-minute show is promised as the fireworks will be synchronised to music. Visitors will also be entertained by various performances that symbolise the culture and uniqueness of competing countries. The experts who have participated in several international fireworks competitions have carefully choreographed each performance, promising visitors an unforgettable experience. To add dimension and drama to the fireworks, the event will feature technologies such as microwave wireless and fully synchronised music.
Apart from the fireworks, a mini concert by Korea Beat and China Concert as well as a DJ Competition 2013 will be held along with a bazaar and a carnival selling street food.

As they spar, having heated debates about the war, the present is revealed: a Japanese man in a relationship with an Indian woman in Kuala Lumpur; his ex-wife coming to grips with an astrologer’s predictions; their son, studying in the United States and confronted by his classmates about Japan’s past. A multilingual production featuring artists from Singapore, Malaysia and Japan, Mobile II: Flat Cities casts the spotlight on stories of personal, social and universal struggles across Asian cities.

This dance performance portrays the tragic love story of Kannagi and her husband Kovalan. After leaving his wife for dancer Madhavi, Kovalan loses all his wealth. He comes back to Kannagi and the two decide to leave Madhurai to start a new life. While trying to sell his wife’s anklet, Kovalan is accused of theft. He is then executed by the Pandiyan King. Heartbroken Kannagi marches to the palace to seek justice for her beloved husband. This enchanting dance drama features more than 60 dancers performing to a vibrant mix of original music compositions and in dazzling costumes.

Festival / Show ~ 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival.

PETALING Street will see the return of its annual lantern parade as Central Market Kuala Lumpur once more plays host to the 1Malaysia Lantern Tourism Festival. Now in its fifth year, this year’s festival and it will run for a longer period compared to 2012. What makes this festival so special is its popularity with not just Chinese folk, but Malaysians of all ethnic backgrounds as well as foreign tourists.
The lantern parade during the opening ceremony on Sept 14 is the main highlight. The lantern procession will start in Petaling Street, circle the Chinatown area and end at Central Market. Visitors can look forward to a wide array of cultural programmes and activities at Central Market such as cultural performances, lion and dragon dances, Chinese riddle guessing games, QQ lantern workshops and diabolo (Chinese yo-yo) workshops. Another attraction will be the specially designed giant lanterns, which will be displayed outside Central Market.
The main activities and performances will take place from 7.30pm every night from Sept 14 to 19, while the giant lanterns will be displayed between 7pm and 10pm every night from Sept 11 to 25. Those with an activity flyer or press release are eligible to collect a free lantern at the Chinatown entrance arch facing Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock at 7.30pm on Sept 14. They will be giving out up to 1,000 lanterns on a first-come, first-served basis. Activity flyers are currently being distributed around hightraffic areas across the city

Harley Davidson celebrates its 110th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion, a slew of planned activities unroll at the base of the iconic Twin Towers. Harley owners from around the world will congregate here and display their machines, along with a host of activities and a riding tour from KL to Terengganu and Penang on the 17th Sep.
The celebration will kick-start with a two-day non-stop event on Sept 15 and 16, with activities such as the Harley-Davidson Experiences; motorcycles and exclusive - exhibition; street performances; fashion shows; and a line-up of local and international bands including Os Pombos, Sons of Adam, Made-in-Malaysia, Mad August, Blister, The Azenders, Creedence Revived, and General Luna.
The celebration will continue with a five-day riding tour to Terengganu and Penang on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The Tony Award-winning musical has entertainment value like infectious music, humour and a fabulous set.

Cultural / Chinese Festival - Mid Autumn or Mooncake Lantern Festival

The Mid-Autumn or Mooncake Festival also known here as Tang Lung or Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the Chinese eighth month and is celebrated to signify the end of the harvest season.
Here, the Chinese celebrate the festival with family gatherings, prayers, mooncakes and lantern parades by children. Weeks before the festival, Chinese families present gifts of mooncakes to friends and senior relatives to foster better ties with them.

Kumpulan Makyung Kijang Emas, JKKN Kelantan
Makyung is a traditional form of dance-drama from the east coast of Malaysia, particularly the state of Kelantan. In 2005 UNESCO declared Makyung a "Masterpiece Of The Oral And Intangible Heritage Of Humanity". "Makyung Raja Besar Negeri Ho Gading" tells a story of a King from the kingdom of Ho Gading who has seven princes. Often worrying about the future of his kingdom, the King summons his two fortune tellers for their advice about his kingdom's destiny.

The International Day of Peace is dedicated to peace, and specifically the absence of war, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone. It is observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples. Initiated in 1981, to inaugurate the day, the "Peace Bell" is rung at UN Headquarters. The bell is cast from coins donated by children from all continents. It was given as a gift by the United Nations Association of Japan, and is referred to as "a reminder of the human cost of war." The inscription on its side reads: "Long live absolute world peace."

AbOuT 5,000 people are expected at the Lantern Festival. Aimed at enhancing ties among the community as well as to promote Chinese culture, the event will will include activities such as unicycle performance, float procession, lantern procession, children’s colouring contest, cultural shows and stage performances. There would be two float processions that evening. The 2.2km lantern and float procession will start at the Chempaka buddhist Lodge and go through SS23/27, SS23/17, SS24/10 and SS24/1. There will be stage shows at the lodge until 11pm. Those who come early will receive goodie bags. Each of the 1,000 goodie bags will contain a mooncake and a lantern. There will also be stalls selling food.

Dogathon is held mainly to raise funds that will be channeled towards the welfare project “Pro-Kasih”, a student-run organization that aims to achieve control of the population of stray animals and to raise awareness to the public about our collective responsibility for these neglected animals. Besides raising funds, the event also aims to promote exposure to all breeds of dogs and their owners as well as being a platform for owners and their dogs to enjoy a fun filled day of games and other activities.
In 2010, Dogathon was declared “The Largest Gathering of Canines” by the Malaysia Book of Records. This year, a total of 4,500 human participants and 1,200 canine participants are expected.
